Tamil Panchangam Today - Thirukanitha (Drik)

A panchangam is the five-limbed Vedic almanac: tithi, vāra, nakshatra, yoga, and karana. AstroYogam computes each limb with the Lahiri ayanamsa, anchored to local sunrise. This page explains the method and structure of our Thirukanitha calculations. For real-time daily limb timings, simply sign in to the AstroYogam app.

Why trust AstroYogam's Thirukanitha Panchangam?

Precise astronomical calculations powered by a deterministic Thirukanitha (Drik) engine

What Ayanamsa and calculation convention is used?

We strictly use the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa. All tithi, nakshatra, yoga, and karana boundary crossings are solved with 1e-9 tolerance precision according to Thirukanitha (Drik) conventions.

Is the Panchangam sunrise-anchored?

Yes. Every daily panchangam is sunrise-anchored to each place's true local sunrise (disc-center with atmospheric refraction), matching classical South Indian calendar rules.

How is the Moon's position computed?

The Moon's position is computed using geocentric coordinates. Panchangam limbs are validated against Drik Panchang golden cases, and ephemeris values are checked against a frozen parity corpus.

Cities

Tamil panchangam by city

Sunrise differs by place. Each city page explains Thirukanitha at that location's coordinates - not a shifted Chennai table.

Method

The five limbs of the panchangam

Tithi is the lunar day from the Sun-Moon angle. Vāra is the weekday lord. Nakshatra is the Moon's mansion among twenty-seven. Yoga comes from the Sun-Moon sum. Karana is half a tithi.

People looking for a Tamil panchangam online for today or tomorrow usually want all five limbs in one place. In AstroYogam those limbs are computed by the engine and shown in the full interactive almanac after you sign in.

Method

A day anchored to local sunrise

In the Tamil panchangam tradition a civil day is usually sunrise-to-sunrise at the observer's place. Limb boundaries therefore depend on latitude and longitude.

AstroYogam uses disc-center sunrise with refraction. The same calendar date can therefore show slightly different limb times in two cities. Whether you need Tamil panchangam Chennai or globally, this is place-aware precision, not an error.

Method

How AstroYogam computes it

Planet positions and limb boundaries use the Thirukanitha (Drik) approach with Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa in a deterministic astronomy engine. AI never invents a position. It only narrates what the engine computed, in plain Tamil and English.

The full interactive almanac for today, tomorrow, and your saved place is available in the signed-in app. Explore the science behind our Thirukanitha calculations below, or sign in to access your live daily panchangam.
